SERATA TA’ TĦABBIRA TAL-FINALISTI 27 EDIZZJONI TAL-IĠM AWARDS

DISKORS TAĊ-CHAIRMAN TAL-IĠM KARL WRIGHT

IGM Semi Finals-4

Il-lejla t-tajba lil kulħadd.

Qed inżommu l-appuntament tagħna ta’ kull sena biex inħabbru l-finalisti minn fost dawk li ssottomettew ix-xogħlijiet ġurnalistiċi tagħhom, li dis-sena leħqu t-88.

Minbarra li nirringrazzja lil dawn kollha li ħadu l-ħin biex iressqu ‘l quddiem ix-xogħol tagħhom u jinvestu fil-professjoni, irrid nirringrazzja lill-isponsors kollha li sena wara sena jibqgħu jagħtu vot ta’ fiduċja fl-Istitut bl-appoġġ finanzjarju tagħhom.

Nilqa’ fosthom b’mod partikolari dis-sena lill-Malta Public Transport, li qed tisponsorja l- kategorija ġdida ta’ ġurnaliżmu investigattiv – stejjer umani (li attirat ħafna interess fost l-ġurnalisti), lill-Ajruport Internazzjonali ta’ Malta, li qed jisponsorja l-kategorija tal-ġurnaliżmu stampat – aħbarijiet kif ukoll lill-Fondazzjoni Valletta 2018 li qiegħda tisponosorja kategorija dwar ix-xogħol ġurnalistiku li sar fuq il-ħidma li qed twettaq il- Fondazzjoni Valletta 2018.

Huwa ta’ pjaċir li ninnutaw il-kompetizzjoni b’saħħitha li dis-sena spikkat fil-kategoriji tar-ritratti. Tattira wkoll interess partikolari kienet il-kategorija tal-kultura li fil-fatt qed tinqasam fi tnejn; l-istampat u l-imxandar.

Il-ħidma tal-Istitut tissokta ħbieb. Dis-sena bqajna nimbuttaw ‘il quddiem id-diskussjoni dwar il-Kodiċi tal-Etika għall-ġurnalisti b’Konferenza Nazzjonali f’Diċembru li għadda fil-binja tal-Parlament, waqt li konna pro-attivi ħafna hekk kif tnieda l-abbozz tal-liġi dwar il-midja u l-malafama. Kif tafu, waqt li kkonsultajna mal-ġurnalisti u konna disposti nilqgħu l-feedback ta’ kull min ried jinvesti fil-professjoni, iltqajna kemm-il darba mal-Gvern u organizzajna wkoll Q&A session li matulha kulħadd seta’ jiċċara u jistaqsi dwar punti fl-abbozz li tinħass il-ħtieġa li jiġu ċċarati jew għad-dirittura jinbidlu.

Nirringrazzja lil dawk kollha li baqgħu jiġbdu ħabel wieħed magħna biex irnexxielna nwasslu għal ċertu bidliet li ħdimna għalihom…dan iwassalni biex ngħid li bqajna nsegwu l-iżviluppi u se nibqgħu nagħtu sehemna sal-aħħar anki fi stadju ta’ kumitat parlamentari mat-tielet qari, biex kemm possibbli l-liġi tkun tirrifletti dak li kkontribwixxejna dwaru aħna l-ġurnalisti.

Fost ħidmiet oħrajn, l-Istitut tal-Ġurnalisti Maltin baqa’ għaddej b’sensiela ta’ laqgħat matul is-sena kollha, inkluż mal-politiċi u ma’ ħafna entitajiet oħra li minn żmien għal ieħor juru x-xeqa li jiltaqgħu magħna jew inkunu aħna li nitolbu li niltaqgħu magħhom biex inġibu ‘l quddiem l-interessi tal-ġurnalisti u tax-xogħol tagħhom. Ma rridx ninsa nsemmi wkoll il-ħidma li baqgħet għaddejja mill-IĠM mal-Fondazzjoni Tumas Fenech għall-Edukazzjoni fil-Ġurnaliżmu u anki mal-MCAST, speċjalment wara li tnieda l-Baċellerat fil-Ġurnaliżmu li tant ħdimna għalih. Jasal iż-żmien li naħsdu l-frott ta’ dak

Ukoll. Awguri mill-qalb lill-finalisti kollha u niltaqgħu għas-serata finali!
