Press Release No. 15/2010

Date: 6 November 2010

The Press Ethics Commission (PEC) was represented at the 12th annual meeting of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe (AIPCE) held in Amsterdam on 4-5 November 2010 by its Chairman, Dr. Kevin F. Dingli, who presented a report on the workings of the PEC in Malta.

This year’s event, hosted by the Netherlands’ Raad voor de Journalistik also celebrating its 50th anniversary, was attended by 75 delegates from 35 countries.

Various topical subjects were debated, including online and media accountability issues, human rights and free speech.

Members of the public may file complaints with the PEC concerning allegations of breach of the Code of Journalistic Ethics by journalists, following the procedure set out in the Rules of Procedure. These are dealt with expeditiously and free of charge.
